G, I too use an HJC Symax as does Rocky. I think the Symax might be a little drafty for your needs. You might try some of their full face non-modular helmets.

I paid more attention to any breeze in my face tonight on my ride to bike night. I didn't notice any, moved the vents around to test different set ups. I wasn't able to get any noticeable breeze in or around my eyes. Cracked the visor open to the defog stop, still no real noticeable breeze in my eyes unless I turned my head to the side or tilted my head back.

While this was my experience riding the Tiger with the Arai Profile helmet, your experience may be different.

I would like to thank everyone for their input it is greatly appreciated.

I'm using 30-day contacts as my medial aid refuses to give me daily's.

As I mentioned earlier I gonna bung up all air vents going into the face and see what happens this weekend.

hemibee: what model Arai do you have?

Do you guys that like AVG have round heads and have a hard time finding other brands that fit as well? I ask because i liked the AVG dragon and always wanted one. But when i finally got to try them on i found they don't fit because they are very round. So if i found a size that fit fine as far as width, the front to back dimention would be too short and squeeze my head to the point i would be in pain. yet only one or 2 other brands i've tried were like that.

lol I am not sure I never thought about that. I just went in one day years back tried on a bunch of them and the AVG just felt the best on. So since then I have just stuck with them. This last time I did try on a few other brands and found they felt like they were just so tight on my face and I could not take it for more than a few minutes

Dale, I have never found an AVG that fit me properly either.

I have the Profile. My head is a long oval and so far all I've found that fits is the Arai Profile. The visor on the Profile is the same as those for the RX7 Corsair, Quantum 2 , Astral X, Vector.

I did get the chance to also test the vents in the rain on Thursday night. They still worked great and I had no water hitting my face even with all of the visor vents open.

have you tryed a nitro ? i have a N1620VN and you get no wind or any breeze in the helmet at all.
they have a webbing that tucks under the chin and back to your neck !
witch stops anything coming in, and has a great venilation system .

just a thought !

I've blocked the face vent, but still get some breeze on my eyes. My next move is to remove the breath guard, perhaps that blowing air straight into my eyes instead of my face.

will let you know tomorrow.

Heh, I've even thought about a motorcross helmet and some goggles.

I rode with my contacts today, only a short ride on Angie. It does make a difference being able to see. :>

I am glad you can see better. That's pretty essential for biking. :y2: A motocross helmet may be your best solution.

:y24::y24: o sorry carl :y148:

:y23: :y23: You do what you have to do. I am a believer in function over style. BGRIN

Maybe wear goggles under the helmet? I'm not trying to be funny; just trying to think of a solution.

I had/have a pair of sunglasses I bought for umpiring in windy conditions. They are more of half goggle sunglasses combo, foam around the eyepiece to block out dust and wind. I know there were several different color lenses including clear when I bought them. The ear pieces were straight so they fit in the helmet with no problem.

If you wear glasses under you helmet, as I do, then they need a little modification to be comfortable and easier to put on through the visor aperture.
This basically entails shortening and straightening the 'temples'.

Pull off the plastic bits that go behind your ears. Cut 10mm (3/8") off each temple. Straighten temples. Refit plastic bits and test.
Continue until temples just sit on ears without hitting back of helmet.

Gently bend temples / hinges until they press firmly but comfortably against the side of your head.

thanks for all the tips guys.

In the mean time......

blocking up the visor vent and removing the mouth guard has had a good effect.

The wind is now direct straight at my top lip and nose. There is no longer a direct blast into my eyes, although there is still air flow around my face.

I think this will do me until I get a new helmet, which I intend to purchase over the next month or so.

I am in the AGV camp myself. I have the Stealth. Move great air over the TOP of my head, but not in my face. No issues with fit or function. And most comfortable helmet I have ever owned.
I also own a SPARX it has the small visor vents like an Arai and with those open it blow a good bit of air in the eyes. CLosed it is fine. A little heavier and noisier than the AGV
ALso have a KBC VR-1 LOOKS great but doesn't move much air at al and has the worst wind buffeting (on the Tiger any way) of the three.

My vote is AGV all the way, unless cost is a factor (they ain't cheap) if it is then I recommend the SPARX it is a quality product (DOT/SNell approved) with lifetime crash replacement program and lots of "extras" in a bargain helmet that can be had for around $150.00 or less if you catch a good sale.
