A snow storm passed though our province the other day bringing very wet and heavy snow which brought down trees and branches causing power outages to thousands in many areas. It's now Wednesday and some areas are still without power. The only saving grace as been unusually mild weather the past few days.
Here on the coast we were lucky and only got enough so that you only needed a shovel to clear it away and then the temp shot up to 7C (45F). That said, some coastal areas got a lot of local snow as the temps fluctuated up and down around the freezing mark.
Inland a bit to the north away from the Atlantic Ocean they were hammered with a massive wet snowfall. It only takes a couple of degrees to make a huge difference. In the area where my brother lives they (and he) lost many prized trees to the heavy wet stuff.
This stunning before and after picture is an area not far from where my brother lives and is a lovely, quiet motorcycle road that I've been on many times.

We dodged this one too, Rocky. Had this kind of storm earlier this year. Not fun. We lost power for 36 hours during that. There were others worse than us. Hope everything and everyone weathers the storm with minimal loss.

It does not seem that your temps are dropping that low this year at all
You're right. It hasn't been brutally cold at all like it should be this time of year.
Snow turning to rain overnight tonight "they" say.
Strange weather, but we're not complacent about it. Lots of time for bad weather yet.

Yup, weather is definitely weird this year. Not as cold as normal. Not as much snow as normal.
Going to be +13 here tomorrow for Pete's sake.
We got 5 cms of snow yesterday that changed to freezing rain for a short while and now it's raining.
With any luck it will melt all the snow we got yesterday.

That's what they(meteorologists) say is causing this unusual winter weather up this way too.
I ain't shoveling it, so I ain't complaining.(y)
Just saying................

After that storm I mentioned above we had a few days of above freezing temps and the snow all but went away.
It arrived quickly and went away quickly with bare streets and bare ground everywhere here on the coast.
Much less so inland where it's colder and not under the influence of the ocean and southern weather patterns.

Well.....that all changed last night.
An expected nor'easter arrived Monday afternoon and is still dumping snow on us. It will likely be upwards of 30cm (12") of blowing snow.
The temps are well below freezing so the snow is light and fluffy which makes for easy work for the blower.
I'll give it a couple of more hours to ease up and then have at it.

Our friend Qship to the north of me in New Brunswick seems to have escaped this one.

The fat lady hasn't sung yet BGRIN

:Worthless:

Rocky show us the white stuff, I'm looking at nice green grass at this moment in time :)

Green grass!!! :y20: you sure know how to pour salt in the wound BGRIN

30cm (12") isn't that much snow, but with gusting winds the drifts were pretty high and it took me nearly two hours to get everything cleared away and tidy.
I have a large deck and it was piled up to my knees and can only be removed with a shovel so that took a lot of time.
I could leave it, but the rear entrance would be blocked and the snow gets too heavy if left to pile up all winter.
The blower made pretty short work of the driveway and sidewalks.

We only got about 10-15 cms of the white crap. It was blowing a bit but nothing bad.
It took forever to get started. Flurries started yesterday around 10 PM local and it didn't pick up until about 3 AM last night.
Tapered off in the morning but continued to snow up 'til 3 PM today.
Then I went out and cleared the driveway. Snow blower made short work of that.

Yes, that's part of it. Visiting my younger girl and her husband first, out in Monticello FL (he rides a Thunderbird LT); then to St. Augustine which will encompass Daytona, hooking up with Carl and a jaunt over to the west coast to visit with my cousin and his wife. We should have been down there now, but some family commitments have delayed us this year......but we'll still get in about 6 weeks. We leave in just under 2 weeks............. Will think of all of you who are trapped up here in the "frozen north"!
