Just back from the hospital, it has been a very long 2 days! I went to hospital yesterday morning at 9.30am, but due to an emergency did not go into theatre until 3.45pm. I was in theatre 3 1/2hrs and back on the ward by 8.00pm. I had a drain fitted to the wound which meant an overnight stay. I am not the best sleeper in the world but in hospital I just can't sleep at all. So after laying awake all night I was feeling pretty shattered. I then had to stay in all day today until the drain stopped and I had had a full set of blood tests done and an endoscope examination to check my vocal chords has not been damaged during the procedure.
Thankfully everything was ok and I 'escaped' at 4.00pm today.
I have a very sore stiff neck due to the 4'' incision across it, but apart from that I feel ok.
Just need to recover for my bike trip now in 2 weeks time!
Here's a pic just after they fitted my new head gasket, primary breather and catch tank!

Steve, you have great sense of humor. Glad you have been paroled and are out of there. Hospital SOP's are designed to prevent one from sleeping! Recover and heal quickly. Prayers of thanks for a successful surgery sent.

Thanks guys, I've just got to remember to take the meds everyday from now on. I have to take levothyroxine for the rest of my life, no big deal provided you remember to take it!

Good luck with the recovery Steve mate ! As I don't think you will want to stay looking like that for long ? ......I don't know if desperate Dan is still going ? But you'd be a good stand in .

Heal quick, Steve. Prayers for a complete and full recovery in time for your ride. I hope they used the right head gasket, torqued it to factory specs and there is no fluid leaks.
