Carl,
Did Mae Lynn's F150 have a 4.2 V-6? If so, it may be a problem common to the engine.
I have the same engine in my E150, and it develops a miss every once in awhile, but it hasn't given me an engine code yet. I should add that my wifes truck will start missing if it has been idling for several minutes, but will go away if you shut it off for a minute and restart it. I really do hate computer controls on vehicles! The old stuff was so much easier to trouble shoot.

I, too, hate the electronics. I prefer the old stuff - much easier to diagnose and work on. Mae Lyne's truck is a V8; but I think the coils are the same on both engines. The heat gets to them.

Dave, another possibility is the catalytic converter is plugged up. We had that, too. The cats are good for about 80,000 miles and then they are plugged up. I wanted just to eliminate them (Mae Lyne's truck has two); but I did not have access to a computer to remap the chip.

Well, you just about hit my wifes trucks mileage right on the nose, she is at 79k. My van only has 38k. Maybe I'll just trade them both in. Did I mention I really hate cars (and trucks)?
Sorry about hi-jacking your post Dave!

I don't know why bike tires are so expensive. Before my last road trip, I bought a new rear for about $200. It was handed to me across the counter. I had to mount and balance it myself. The next day I bought two tires for my small pickup, $150 out the door, mounted and balanced while I waited in their showroom reading car magazines.

The higher price is not just based on volume it is based on design and quality. A car has 4 tires on the road. You want the two on your bike to be well built. Motorcycle tires need to perform under much more demanding conditions. Cars don't lean onto the sidewalls...LOL

Oh dear going out yesterday I was confronted with a loud noise from the front end of the car now it makes a scraping sound while driving. Had a look and I cannot seem to see anything but the sound is coming from the front left wheel. Can only get the car into the dealer on Monday so now what will it be :cash:
