On the tenth anniversary Discovery Channel showed a whole succession of programmes throughout the day. I watched them all, even though I'd seen them all at different times before.

It was so chilling what happened on that day that there's hardly a day goes by that I don't think about it.

Neil Cavuto, the business anchor on FOX News this afternoon had a touching commentary.

He said one of the weird things he remembers from 911 are the parking lots full of cars at the Park-n-Ride lots where people parked and took the trains into Manhattan on 911 never to return. So many cars left there waiting like obedient dogs waiting for their masters for weeks afterwards while relatives slowly got around to claiming them.

He told of a teenager who'd had a typical teenage argument with her Dad the night before and never said goodbye to her Dad that morning. She never saw him again.... his body was never found.

There are just so many sad stories out there and it is hearbreaking SAD

the music I'm still thinking on
the graphics were very powerful
the message,clear as a bell.

Yeah......I'm not normally cool about people doing over-the-top performances of the national anthem. I enjoy hearing it done as it was written without embellishment. To me it kind of cheapens it. I know the artist meant well and that wasn't too badly done as some are however.

I'd also like to see less emphasis on tools of war in these types of videos and more emphasis on just Americans doing good stuff and being free. That's not to say I don't hold our military in the highest regard of course.

What a spectacular event this must have been, sadly for all the wrong reasons, but nice that people take the time to remember what happened that day. Lets face it if people can't stand still for 2 minutes and show some respect, well it baffles me. 100 years from now people I hope, will still show some respect and remember

This a yearly thing done on the anniversary. Ground Zero as it's known is hallowed soil. The same applies to the field in Pennsylvania where Flight #93 crashed which is only an hour riding time from me.

Maybe next year, bearing in mind the events that took place there, you might be able to post some pictures of the memorial. But it goes without saying you'd have to be careful because it could be a bit insensitive to the family's who attend to pay there respects

I did ride out there for the memorial services one year.

Because it's basically in a field in a very rural area, there are very few roads to get to the crash site. Therefore you almost have to get s room nearby and leave quite early to get through the traffic on time. Also being a non-tourist rural area, there are few hotels/ motels and they sell out a year in advance.
