Well I been around for a couple of weeks and CarlS has been on me about posting my restoration so I give it a try!
Bought this from a guy for 50.00 bucks 30 yrs ago brought it home and disassembled it put it boxes and forgot it for about 20 yrs ( job family life etc) finally retired (semi) and had more time to do thing I wanted to. Broke the boxes out---Damn you know how many things disappear in 20 yrs?SAD
Took all the tin and frame parts to the stripper then to the powder coater and painter( the things I don't do) Built the wheels rebuilt the motor / trans while I waited. Stuff started showin up! the paint is excellent ,not liking the 67 colors I had it done in 66 colors except pearl white & candy orange. I also have an adversion to stainless fenders so it has painted fenders (TR6--post 68)
My partner in crime and I are doin swap meets near And far lookin for STUFF! things are lookin up motor is in the frame swing arm is installed front forks are mounted wheels are on-------Partner in crime is diagnosed with a brain tumor(Malignant) Christmas 2007 . They operate just after new year ( he is never the same funny how that works ain't it) He makes it to June 2008 ( Thanks F@$^$#S) take the wind out of my sails. Project goes to the back corner of the shop covered up don't care. couple of years go bye I heal, realize I ain't gonna live for ever so lets get back to it! break it out don't like some thing that I did so start takin things off, fenders go back to the painter( where they still are) small changes here and there .
I will ride it to vintage days this year!(2014) Thanks Don I miss ya BRO SAD

Wonderful project and great progress so far TUP TUP
Very sorry to hear about your friend, but the best healing therapy is to have a project like this.
Keep up the great work and let us know how you're doing as you go along.

Thank you for the pics, a great looking bike. It's gonna be gorgeous!

I am sorry for the loss of your friend. You are doing the right thing for yourself and for the memory of your friend by continuing the project. TUP

That's a show winner in the making. You have, and are doing a wonderful job there. Sorry to read about Don.
It will be a real treat to see this project completed, and the subsequent photos that will come with the vintage bike shows that you'll go to, also the, " Best in class " trophy that must surly be coming your way one day.

Awesome bike!
Condolences on the death of a friend. The year I started riding, but after I turned 21, my friend and the guy who got me riding was killed when a drunk driver ran him.into a telephone pole head first. The girl on the back was wearing his helmet and only had a couple fractures and some scuffs. The helmet would not have helped Howard, head first at 30mph would have left him paralized from the neck down and I'm quite positive he would've preferred death. I know I would. Some other friends quit riding, I rode to his funeral in the rain. When they lowered him into the grave it stopped raining and the sun came out, that was awesome!
At least you had time with your friend before he passed, I didn't even find out he was gone until the day before the funeral. I never had the chance to say goodbye and have lived 36 years with the regrets of not spending more time with him. He left our favorite spot to give a girl a ride, asked me to grab someone and go too, and I didn't. If I would've gone he may have lived. You never know.
I'm glad you are finding some comfort working on your bike and purchasing his. I am sure he would have wanted you to.
Peace man.
