Mad On Triumphs

1995 Thunderbird
OK I have an electrical question to ask of you, It's for my DR 350 Suzuki :y37:I have a on / off switch like this one ON OFF.jpgIt has 2 wires coming out of the unit. I want to put 4 way hazard warning lights on the DR. I'd like to use a separate relay unit, would I need a 2 or 3 pin relay or something else. I know that I would have to cut into the front indicator wires and then feed them back to the relay, and somewhere along the line a 10 amp fuse would need to be fitted, I've looked at various diagrams on the internet, and have managed to totally confuse myself. If you fancy drawing an idiots guide diagram from the on off switch to the relay and indicators, then please don't let me stop you.
Thank you in advance for your help BBEER

OK Hemi I have a theory that the following diagram could possible work. It will either work or go bang. Here is my very professional drawing

I can tell that you're well impressed with the above.
I'm going to order a few bits and give it a go :y147:

Too bad Triumph has seen the need to not equip all their current bikes with them.

Dare I say that Triumph's never breakdown, so they don't need things like that. :y2:
But yes, they should be fitted as standard. My 95 Thunderbird has them as standard, and soon my DR will have them, fingers crossed

I try to not stop on a busy road where I might be a hazard, but it happens sometimes so I have to use one of the signal lights as a warning flasher - hoping that the cagers understand the situation.
Good luck with the mod TUP

I thought Hazard Flashers were the law in the USA?

My Trophy has them but the moronic thing is that key key has to be in the ON position for them to work. Remove the key and the flashers stop!?

But I DO have a "Pub Lamp" which turns on the tail lamp and a dim headlight bulb. That foes work with the key removed.

Must not be the law, my 01 has flashers but the new ones don't. Like your Trophy, the Girlie's key has to be on for the hazards to work.

Having the flashers on the ignition circuit is really dumb!

What if you broke down and had to walk someplace for help?

PS: I asked the mechanic that does my PA bike inspections and he said he cannot pass a bike or car that doesn't have working 4-Way Flashers. So it is the law in this State.

4-Way, Emergency or Hazard flashers are not required in Texas or Louisiana. Turn signals are not required on a bike in Texas unless they are installed on the bike when it goes for inspection, then they are tested and must work.

He said that turn signals and flashers are required for PA Inspection on all bikes after a certain year/date which corresponds to the year/date that the US began requiring manufacturers have them to be sold in the US.

My '69 TR6R doesn't need them, nor did my '72 Bonnie bobber. I'm thinking it was around '73-'74 when they became mandatory.

They are not mandatory in Florida and they were not mandatory in the US as of the 2012 models. My 2003 T100 does not have nor does my 800XC. I don't care about the hazard flashers; I just wish Triumph would install self cancelling blinkers! Come to think of it, I have seen 2013 models without hazard flashers.
