2024 Tiger 900 Rally Pro

Hi All,

Soooo I just picked up a 2024 Tiger 900 Rally Pro, brand new from the dealer, salesman rode the bike out to my parked trailer loaded it up secured the bike on the trailer and we drove home (about 100 miles), a light drizzle when we arrived at home so I unloaded the bike put it in the garage.
Later when the weather cleared I went out to take a short ride and kick stand up, in neutral, clutch in, hit the starter button and nothing!
The display lights up all looks normal to me (but this bike is brand new to me as well so I'm not familiar with the display) I don't see any flashing lights or symbols that might alert to a problem other than there is a red triangle with an exclamation point inside it that stays on, not sure if that is normal until the engine starts or not. Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong? The dealer is making arraignments to come pick up the bike after the new year holiday but thought I'd check here to see if there is something I can do in the mean time to resolve the problem.
Very strange but my newest bike is a 1999 Triumph Tiger so.....they've changed a lot in the last 25 years or so. :)

The red triangle is not normal, it indicates a system fault. Try disconnecting then reconnecting the battery.

They may have started it a few times checking it over before you picked it up or perhaps wasn't charged up prior to you taking possession. Today's bikes are quite sensitive to low voltage and need a good, fully charged battery. Is it possibly a low battery?

Tried disconnecting the battery, I had high hopes on this one but didn't help.
:(
All the other electric systems seem to work, Horn, lights display, turn signals etc. but I'll put it on a charger and see if that helps.

The stop switch is incorporated on the starter switch on this model, in that you have to go off of the stop position to the run position and then to the start position to engage the starter.

I appreciate the suggestions.

Tell us more about the transportation? How long did you disengage the battery? Perhaps leave it disconnected for a night.

I just disconnected it for a few minutes. I could try overnight and see if that does the trick.

Transported the bike from the dealer in a Uhaul motorcycle trailer, tie down straps, relatively smooth LA freeways.

I’m thinking if there was something that triggered a shutdown of the ignition system it might take a longer power outage to reset it. Worth a try anyway.

Tried charging the battery for a couple of hours....no joy. I'll check the voltage tomorrow and see what it reads.

If it's not this basic small stuff then I would let the dealer sort it out. It sucks and does not leave you with confidence and takes some of the new vehicle ownership joy away.
Have you checked the manual to see if there's a troubleshooting chart and it may tell you why the red triangle is on your display?

Did you pull the clutch in? The bike will start in gear with the stand up so the clutch has to be pulled in even if it's in neutral. If it's a fobbed bike, the key fob has to be ON. The triumph logo on the fob is the on/off switch. Depress the switch and make sure the light comes on GREEN, if it's red, hold the switch down till it turns GREEN.

Yep, pulled in the clutch, sidestand up, in neutral, on this model the starter switch can't be in the off position when pushing the starter portion of the switch. It is a 3 position rocker switch, when pushing the lower portion of the switch it automatically toggles to the on position, and no key FOB on this bike.
It's still possible I'm doing something wrong but it is not apparent to me.
I've been riding for a very long time and I've been riding my 1999 Tiger for a good long time but this bike obviously is much more advanced but the start procedure is pretty much the same, at least as far as I know and according to the manual.
Thank you very much for your input, I appreciate it.

Hi Qship,
Yeah, I think even if it started I would insist the dealer search for stored error codes. I don't think it's anything I am doing incorrectly. If I would hazard a guess I think an ignition lockout switch has failed, either in the sidestand or the main off/on/start switch on the handle bar. Like you say it has taken some of the joy out of the purchase but we'll get through it and go for some nice rides, looking forward to trying some BDR rides out here in the West.

Does your key have the second key on the ring? The immobilizer gets confused with more then one key.

Hi atomsplitter,
I only received one key, the dealer is having triumph send me the second one.
Good catch though, I missed that in the manual, good to know so that I don't have both keys close to the ignition switch.

That triangle with the exclamation is a general warning light. The ABS light (if equipped) usually stays on until after you get to about 6mph then goes off. If the engine isn't cranking the immobiliser or a start interlock is preventing it. Do you get the pump prime whine when you turn the ignition on? My Speed Triple has to have its rocker pushed to the STOP position to engage the ignition, then clicked to the ON position (welcome screen) before the pump primes, then pushed to START and then it cranks.
