That triangle with the exclamation is a general warning light. The ABS light (if equipped) usually stays on until after you get to about 6mph then goes off. If the engine isn't cranking the immobiliser or a start interlock is preventing it. Do you get the pump prime whine when you turn the ignition on? My Speed Triple has to have its rocker pushed to the STOP position to engage the ignition, then clicked to the ON position (welcome screen) before the pump primes, then pushed to START and then it cranks.
Hi AS,
yes the fuel pump powers up as soon as I turn on the key. I think I tried going from STOP, to ON then START. But I double check. I don't recall seeing any sequence like that in the manual and wasn't mentioned when I picked up the bike but I'll give it a try.
Thanks.

Is the dealership sending someone with tech knowledge of the motorcycle to pick it up? If so ask them to try to start it in the off chance they find something that could have triggered this. Qship’s response is wise. If it a new motorcycle doesn’t start let the dealership get it sorted out.

Hi,

Not sure who the dealer is sending, I received a call from the service manager while he was on holiday letting me know that he will make arraignments to retrieve the bike. I live about a 100 miles from them and offered to trailer the bike to the shop but he said they would be sending someone. But for sure I will ask whoever shows up to try and start the motorcycle just in case there is something simple I am overlooking but I don't think there is but always possible i suppose. Even if I was able to diagnose the cause I'm going with Qship's advice and let them take care of it.
I was just hoping there was something obvious this old man was overlooking in the start up procedure, lots of collective knowledge in these forums!

Sounds like a solid plan. Hopefully they sort it out quickly so you can get to enjoying your motorcycle. These type of things can be very frustrating.

Let us know if it was a real problem or user error.
The dealer sent out a truck to pick up the Tiger, I was a bit concerned because the night before the driver called and mentioned that he would load it into the back of his pick-up truck, turns out the truck was a Heavy Duty GMC with a GIGANTIC articulating lift that turned out to be a piece of cake to load the bike. Dealer called today to say the bike is ready and that they updated the software which they feel was the problem. Also they noted that the display was showing the symbol (wrench) indicating the bike needed servicing. Oh and just before the bike was loaded on the transport I tried starting the bike one last time......of course it started right up!
I should get the bike back tomorrow or the next day and we'll go from there.
Can't wait to ride it!!

Well it seems it's sorted. Hope that;s the last of your troubles with the new scoot. Happy riding.

Hi All,

Picked up my RP up for the dealer today and rode it home (about 100 miles) all good! Spoke with the Service manager and they rode the bike around and could not replicate the no starting issue (a reminder, that just before the bike was loaded on the transport truck I tried starting it one last time and it fired right up. Weird.) He did say that there was a software update that they applied but no fault codes were recorded so a little mystery. Hopefully it doesn't reoccur when out of tow truck range. :) Service techs went over the bike nothing loose, broken or misaligned. If it happens again I'll report in but hopefully it doesn't.
Thank you for all the suggestions I appreciate the help.

Cheers,

My 2024 900 GT Aragon does the same thing. At first it was the start button not working then the on button did not engage the fuel pump. It is an intermittent issue but needs to be fixed. Happens anywhere but generally after a ride. The dealer is putting a claim through Triumph for a new switch block. The dealer has replaced a few switch blocks recently. The switch inside the clock is a sealed unit. Contact cleaner does not help.

Nalla,

Funny that you responded. I just went out to start my bike and sure enough wouldn't start. Tried it several times, nothing. The fuel pump pressurizes but the starter does not engage. Just for giggles I wiggled the wires coming out of the switch block and the display went out when I released the wires the fuel pump activated and the bike started! Turned the bike off then back on waited for the display and fuel pump to do their thing, hit the starter button, nothing. Wiggled the wires again, display went off, then back on, fuel pump thing, hit the starter button nothing. Moved the wires once again this time holding them, hit the starter button and the bikes starts. It is definitely a problem with the wires or contacts in the switch blocking housing. At least it is narrowed down and I can duplicate the problem for the dealer. Of course I discover this on Friday evening so it will have to wait until next week to sort it out.
Cheers.
PS sort of comforting to know that I am not the only one. :)

Back when they introduced the original Rocket III (2004) the bike's design routed headlight power through the ignition switch barrel, putting a 55 watt load draw on the tiny wires inside the barrel. This had the effect of desoldering the connections from overheat and the bikes wouldn't start after a number of ignition cycles. Triumph corrected their design problem in 2010 (after numerous complaints and solid evidence it was stupid engineering). (I installed a bypass relay that removed headlight power from the ignition barrel six months after buying my 05 Rocket, it routed power directly from the battery so I never had the desoldering problem and had brighter headlights to boot). You may have a similar issue with design (those same brilliant engineers are still working for mother Triumph).

Creeps around like Nosferatu.....
Love it! I do at times get the feeling he gets a bit of a bum wrap. LoL. Not that I think they were great quality, but I had old cars like a SAAB that had a mix of Lucas and Bosch parts. Neither worked poorly. Still I grew up with the “prince of darkness” jokes.
