After years of lusting, I finally pulled the trigger on a Tiger 1200. Loving it. Reporting out after about 250 miles, 50 of which were 2-up.
My setup tweaks: Grip Puppies to fatten up the grips; SW Motech bar risers, plus about another 1 inch by rotating up the bars at the clamps and re-leveling the levers. Raised only front of seat using factory adjustment to flatten the seating. This gets me right to the edge of flat-footing, but worth it for ride comfort. Luggage on order, mostly to make the bike better for errands (groceries are 15 miles and highway speeds away, so better to take the Tiger than the Tundra pickup when it's an option.)
Positives: The pull of the triple even from idle is smooth and fantastic. Handling is super. Adjustable windscreen exceeds my expectations (first bike with such). I can ride highway speeds with face shield up. Cruise control (also a first for me) a welcome addition; I engage it often, sometimes for as little as 10-15 seconds, to give my hand a break (I'm susceptible to numb hands even at my computer--it's not the bike, it's my neck). Just tried the hill hold, and while not necessary, it does allow you to relax a bit at a stop light. I'm not experienced with 2-up, but my wife found the ride great, and mostly I noticed needing to hold a bit more throttle. I dialed up the suspension towards sport with her aboard, but typically I'm running it down in the comfort zone since our roads are pretty bouncy up here in frost country. I've seen traction control engage over dirt road washboard sections, largely because the wheels hop a lot (the same spots my Tundra's traction control lights up.)
Negatives: We've been experiencing a very hot summer, and this bike is hot in the crotch. Gold Bond should be standard equipment.
Enjoy summer everybody.
