Timing cover on and cleaned up...

Primary case cleaned and ready to get the clutch & primary system back in place...

Slipped the clutch hub in place, then the chainwheel, then a dab of grease, then started in with the 20 little roller bearings "The Struggle is Real!"

Got all the rollers in, need to be careful not to disturb the hub on it's taper after taking the nut back off to get the clutch center in place!

Easy clutch holder tool made with one each friction & plain plates, drilled and bolted to a steel bar long enough to catch anywhere (in this case, the brake pedal pivot)

Clutch plain steelplates wiped clean then "touched up" by rubbing them in a circular pattern on fairly smooth concrete. This knocks off the glaze and gives the plates some texture for grippiness. I've been doing this for over 20 years, and IT WORKS. Yes, of course, plates were checked for relative flatness.

I scrounged around recently and found the perfect alloy sleeve for my clutch spring adjuster tool, it slips over the head and keeps the tool in place while tightening. It was such a hassle having the tool pop off the adjuster heads 8 or 10 times during EACH spring tightening; multiply that by three!

It fits over the spring, so you start right in with minimal slippage.

Alternator installation was uneventful.

I happened to have a spare primary cover gasket, so that was that! I also swapped out the keyswitch, with a bit of electrical wiring rehab.

Jimmy had 3 different rocker inspection caps, and I "just HAPPENED" to have 3 new ones that matched one of his, so now he has all 4 matching. 2 shiny, 2 a bit dull, but at least they're all the same...

Old battery was dead and bulky, also incorrect AH for no e-start...
IMG_9525.JPG

New 4AH battery in place with stiff foam padding cut to fit-

Not sure how the carb needle got bent, but it's awfully bent...

I have an "almost" correct replacement needle on a similar old spare carb, so I'm using that for now...

Fuel tank mounting hardware is not original, but made from what I had on hand, and performs equivalent function... (rear mount)

One of the two front tank mounts (other side similar)

Static timing set with crank positioned accordingly-
