I read on another site that Charlie Boorman of "Long Way Round" and "Long Way Down" fame is going to make a "Long Way Across" Canada trip in the near future.
Since we have a lovely, smooth and scenic Trans-Canada Highway the ride won't be too hard on him I don't think:y2:
But that would be too boring and I expect that he will seek out some really bad wilderness roads (or make his own) if the series is going to be interesting at all.
It will be interesting to see what develops.

As the crow flies, it's about 5,080 km's (3,150 miles) across Canada so Charlie has a long distance to cover.
This is a wild and harsh country so he won't have any problem finding rough and tough wilderness to ride in.
There's a reason most of Canada's population lives within 200 miles or so of the US border:y2:

In 1928 a Brit rode an Ariel motorcycle sidecar outfit across Canada in 21 days. Considering the roads of the day (or lack thereof) it was an amazing feat.
Where there were no roads he rode on the railroads, bouncing over the railroad ties for hundreds of miles.
I wrote the story of this amazing mans adventure and will send it to Dave to see if it's worthy of posting here.

I would very much like to read it!

The most recent news is that Charlie is already here in the eastern provinces and heading west.
Considering the cold, wet and miserable weather we've had this spring I don't envy him.
It's only 8C(47F) and overcast this morning after four straight days of rain :y47::y20:
According to a Canadian motorcycle web site his ride will be shown on Channel 5 in the UK in early 2012.
Unless one of the North American cable companies picks it up we'll not likely see it.

It won't be long after it is shown on channel 5 that it comes out on DVD. I think all his other trips with Ewan McGregor are on DVD.
