Well, not remarkable stats, but there’s a lot of potential to tweak in that motor. That motor is built to mod. I agree cams can have a significant effect on a motor. I did some engine mods in my youth, cams, vavles and springs, polished and ported heads, and upgraded carburetor from a single to a two barrel on a car. Starting horsepower was around 65 and in the end somewhere over a hundred. I suspect much of the same approach will work on a motorcycle. The top is the easiest part to mod. Not sure it would need any additional work like upgrading pistons. I guess I would only do a bottom if the bearings needed replacing which would lead to evaluating the condition of the pistons. Which could end in new sleeves and larger pistons. Lot can be done if you have time and the money. It can be consuming hobby.Yes, 65 bhp from a 900 lump wth four valves per cylinder is not outstanding. My 21 year old 900 Ducati pushes out 85.

Relatively simple mods on a Bonneville variant. Agree. Delete the airbox for sure at least on the carburetor models. There’s probably similar things to do one EFI models.Intake, exhaust, cam.
