Two weeks old and the last time I flipped up the steering lock cap, it refused to stay down after locking the bike.
The tiny hook came away and now I have a cap in the air to allow the rain get into the steering lock!
What's more amusing is that this part is complete with the locking mechanism at £148 plus syncing at Triumph.
Cannot understand the reason this cap should have been sprung down instead of sprung up.
Flipping bike's only 2 weeks old!
While I rant on, why does this bike have keyless ignition?
Honestly do not see any advantage to this, just a gimmick. I feel it spoils a great bike.

Your rant about keyless ignition reminds of so many things that I (as a 70+ year old), just don't need and find annoying at my advanced age.

You are so right, but changing times is good if its called progress and not to be outsmarting the competition with useless gadgets, why stoop to their level!

I agree. If I could swap it out for a regular ignition I would. It might be technically a keyless ignition but you need a key for the seat lock, fuel cap lock, and steering lock. You also need a back-up key in case the key fob craps out. Technology for the sake of it.

For the second time now the complete lock assembly has been changed by Triumph UK. I've been told it has a price of £450 plus fitting, glad it's a warranty job!
The first time it broke, it was supposed to be a complete replacement, but the dealer only replaced the lid, but the lower part was shot as well, so it didn't last long.
If it happens again after the warranty, I'll make an one with a spring going the other way.

I'm just changing to a Scrambler from a Rocket 3 GT which has the same keyless so I've got used to that.
You don't have to lock the petrol cap if you don't want too - just turn till it clicks and shut the lid! Much easier than fiddling each time you fill up.
One difference I have noticed is the steering lock on the 3GT is electronic which is good in someways( no need to get the key out) but you have to turn the ignition on to lock/unlock which is a pain if you just want to move and not start it.

Yes I know about the petrol cap, but always forget to lock it when I leave the bike somewhere. Not keen on the keyless, cannot see the sense in having it. Wish it was an optional extra.

I never lock my petrol cap, it's unlikely that anyone is going to try and steal 3 gallons of petrol or sabotage my bike by putting something into the tank.

Once upon a time, I parked my gt250 suzuki in the high street at Lymington.
Next day I noticed sugar in the oil tank as they couldn't get into the locked petrol cap.
