Hello
I had just rebuilt my top of the engine. New cylinders STD new Pistons STD and cylinder head overhauled: New valves and guides; Head was flattened;
When it started it smoked from the left exhaust; When I drive there is no smoke. When I'm on a traffic light there is almost no smoke but when it take a little longer it starts to smoke again en there is oil coming out where the pipe meets the head;
I also put a Morgo Plunger pump on it.
Can anybody help me out? I'v lost my courage.
Thanks in advance

hi serge

the morgo pump is a quality item. no problems there.

if you have oil smoke coming out the exhaust then oil must be passing the piston rings or running down the valve guides. measure the compression on the cylinders. if the rings are seated the compression should be at least 150 psi and close to the same on both sides.

if there is liquid oil coming out where the pipe meets the head then it is likely that you have oil running down the outside of the guide, between the guide and its bore in the head.

if the valve guide hole in the head was scratched when the new valve guides were installed, it would explain both the smoking and the oil leak.

if the bike is parked on the side stand then any oil in the rocker boxes will accumulate on the left side and be sucked out past that valve guide first when the motor is started.

I looked in the exhaust and inlet hole but the valves are dry and there is no oil there. The bores on the valve guides are bored to an oversize because of scratches . So I think that it comes from the piston rings. The man from the overhaul company suggested me tho drive it for a 500km and than see. Maybe the piston rings have to adapte to the Cilinder. I bought a brand new barrel and STD pistons from British Bike Bits. I hope the bore is well done.
When the bike is parked on the side stand there is no more smoke than when it is on the center stand;
Thanks very much for the advise.
Kind regards
Serge

keep riding it. it may certainly be that the rings are simply not yet bedded in.

let us know what happens.

keep watching that liquid oil, though. sometimes it comes out around the headbolt holes and only appears to be coming from th eexhaust port.

I have done 1400 Km and the smoke is almost nihil; There is no more oil coming in the exhaust, so I think the advice from the overhaul company tho do some bedded in wil solve the problem. The bike runs marvelous.
Thanks everyone for the help and support.
