As most know, the new model Scrambler 1200s have the catalytic converter mounted in the slip-on cones of the stock exhaust. Knowing this, I purchased a used set of OEM slip-ons from a 2019 Scrambler 1200. I had my dealer swap them out and reset the ECU. Result: very little heat near my right knee/calf and a decidly sweeter growl from the engine above second gear. After several hundred miles, I can report no ill effects from this swap and the bike looks stock.

After riding over 100 miles, immediately after stopping I can touch the exhaust with my bare hand. An incredible temperature reduction.

i like that idea! i also have a 2022 scrambler xc..i want to go with aftermarket pipes, but i dont think that they will require an ecu remap..does anyone know for sure? i will also get the better air filter and the booster plug. but all this in the spring. actually been riding her around in nw indiana the last three days! not too bad with temps in the upper 40's

Actually, you can re-set the ECU yourself when you put new pipes on. I don't remember the exact procedure, but it's as easy as starting the bike, don't touch the throttle, leaving it idle until the fan comes on, and then for like 11-12 minutes more letting it continue to idle. Anyway, don't quote me on the exact procedure, but that's how I remember. Or, the dealer just resets it with their diagnostic tool.

When I changed the pipes on my T120, I also let it run until the fan cut in. But also been informed that engine over a few miles (100 ish) would do the same.
When my new XC arrives I will do the same using the earlier exhaust and keep it standard looking.

I did this and threw a DNK TuneWorks tune on it as well...the tune dropped the temps almost as much as the decat and gave me noticeable boost as well. Highly recommended mod.

I got the 2019 pipe and fitted it.
I've taken it off again as it sounded like a tin of marbles on the overrun.
The stock is nicer so if anyone is after a pipe with gasket tubes that was new when I bought it, it's up for sale.

What would be a price shipped to Indianapolis,IN USA? I'm interested, but it's hard to afford large shipments over the pond :)
