Hi. I am finding the stock Street Twin mirrors next to useless and looking to replace with bar end ones. The Triumph ones are so expensive so looking at alternatives. When I took the silver weight off the end of the bars, I cannot work out how to remoe the insert so I could then insert after market mirror expanding mounts into the tube.

Any tips on how to do this will be very welcome!

Thanks

Tec bike parts do a set of easy to fit bar end mirrors but they have just closed for xmas.

I have some lovely billet Three Piston bar end mirrors on my Street Triple. Fitting bar ends is similar for all Triumphs with threaded inserts which you don't need to remove. The expanding plug which comes with bar end mirrors is only required for bars without a threaded insert. If you have the threaded insert simply replace the bar end weight with the bar end mirror boss - you can use washers as spacers on the throttle side if required to avoid fouling the throttle. Here is a link to a video which should help

I got a generic set from eBay for about £10, and they work great

The threaded insert will not come out (at least not easily) but aftermarket ones are available. Halcyon make excellent ones and are a UK company. They are not cheap though but quality never is.
