Hi all,
I have noticed the timing gears or something makes quite a noise, constant when motor running. Is this normal I see the gears are straight cut. Are they lubed by the engine oil or are they just greased. I am a newbie so would appreciate any thoughts.
Cheers Randall
PS early model with distributor cap behind engine block. No points in timing gear cover.

The gears are lubed by engine oil.
Thanks Glen, for the heads up about oil, rookie in me was wondering if I could just slap some grease in there, duh!!.
Guess the Noise might be normal for a bike of this age. I recently joined the Triumph owners Motorcycle club here in New Zealand so hopefully will meet someone with a learned ear who can advise me, it's a difficult sound to describe in words.
Much appreciated,
Cheers Randall
