This morning I had an early appointment to take "Brand X" in for a mandatory safety inspection.
Last year a new bike shop had opened up outside of town on a coastal road and most of us are frequenting that place as opposed to the larger and busier shops in the cities.
The place is run by a lovely British couple and one employee. This is the third bike I've taken to them and all passed as I knew they would.
No point in taking a bike with dodgy mechanicals and bald tires because you won't get any sympathy. It's either safe for the road or it isn't.
One of the advantages of going to this particular shop is that it's on a coastal road that we ride on all the time, and riding there in the early morning is beautiful and serene.
This is some of what I see as I ride along.
The seagull is enjoying the calm water too. The building in the distance is an electrical power generating station.
Back on the secondary road that leads to the coastal road, I stopped at a British café for breakfast of ham, scrambled eggs, beans, toast and coffee. This café has been there for a few years, but I only "discovered" it this year. I didn't have "the stomach" to tackle the full traditional British breakfast
