Would repainting the tank on this change the value?

Hello all,
Opinions please: I have about paid off a 1979 Triumph 75 Bonne "Special" I am buying from a friend. The guy I am buying it from said it was restored or rebuilt by Skinner's Triumph shop in Auburn, Al, which caters to the old classics, and that they had repainted the tank. I hate that dark black/silver color scheme and like either the blue/white or yellow/white color schemes on the tanks of a couple I have own in the past. If I repaint that tank to a brighter color, would it ruin the value, etc? Seems like if they repainted the tank it would be no diff than me having it repainted. I just prefer brighter colors.

Generally speaking, the more original a bike is - including original colors - the more value it has. If it were mine, I would probably keep the original colors. However, there is certainly nothing wrong with individualizing you bike to your tastes.

Thing is,its only paint.
Its no big deal to put it back to original if you ever change your tastes or decide to sell.

Thanks y'all! I should be paying it off this month and can not wait to get some wind in my face. I want to get it looked over first at the Triumph shop. It has been sitting up for a few years and I want everything from the tires up checked! Don't want a blowout or bad wheel bearings, etc, etc.

If it were the original factory paint it might be a good idea not to change it. However as it has already been painted you doing it again would make no difference at all.

everyone has different tastes re colour ect paint it as you like it.as others says can be repainted back to stock if selling on.candy apple over black any day regards adrian

As has already been said, since the tank has been repainted it makes no difference now what you do.
The original paint has been lost and so has any value of originality.
Painting it again to suit yourself will not change the value as it is right now.
Do what you like with it I say.

originaly it would have a black tank with gold coach lining that's the original t140d special with lester wheels and Siamese exhaust hth
