We were in a gift shop today and noticed this. SAD
What a joke, you can take your small portable phone and transform it into a 50's style ugly bit of kit.

For years, whenever my wife saw one of these novelty French telephones, she would say she would like to have one - something like this.

One Christmas I bought one for her. I hooked it up and she used it 2-3 times and hated it :y13: :y2:
I knew that was going to happen so I very carefully packed it up and returned it tio the store.

For years I used an electric typewriter to write my stories and articles (and used lots of white-out), then along came the PC and word processing with spell checking.
How spoiled we are now!

Our national phone company sells this landline device for about $70. The numbers are pushbutton, not rotary.

I have a similar one, not so ornate. It's very heavy and feels the way a telephone should do!

BTW, these old style analogue telephones are correctly referred to as POTS (plain old telephone system :y16:)- really.

Do you know how to tell if a blonde has been on your computer? White-out on the monitor.

I don't miss typewriters one bit. The only thing I miss about typewriters would be the typing class I had to take (my father made me do it) in junior high. My friends were laughing because I was in typing but I pointed out to them that while I was sitting in an air conditioned classroom, one of only three rooms in the school that had A/C, they were in the gym with a bunch of boys. I on the otherhand was in a class full of girls. TUP
