To reserve a new Thunderbird, customers should visit their local Triumph dealer to place a deposit and complete a Reservation Form. Once Triumph North America receives the Reservation Form, a conformational email will be sent to the dealer and customer with the expected month of delivery. As shipments are received from the factory, motorcycles will be sent to the dealers for customers in the order that the reservations were received. The special order program will run until July 1, 2009.

I just called them and i'm more than happy to report that june will NOT be for preordered bikes only. They said they'd be shipping all they have whether or not they are spoken for as preorders go. However, of course if the first run takes 2 months to get here from the first bikes to the last, the first will go to preorders of course. And if by chance the first run was all spoken for, then of course all bikes shipped will be spoken for. But he estimated that won't be the case at all. too many bikes for that to happen. So from what he said his estimation is that there WILL be unspoken for bikes on most showroom floors in june. i just hope one is blue and at my dealer ! (and i WILL get there first ! :ya2:)

Another bit of info which i'm happy to report is that the Tbird will be made and assembled fully in Hinkley ! there have been many rumors about this bike being a Thaiumph, but he said that while production of the Tbirds and some others remains in hinkley, chances are in time ALL models with be made in Thailand. I'm happy to know that at least the first runs will be 100% british. Thats enough reason for me to be guinia pig for this model.

OT, but in one of the articles they stated that the Tbirds EFI has 2 differnt maps that are chosen by the EFI depending on how quickly you open the throttle. For example, that snatchiness EFI tends to have is eliminated with a certain map if the throttle is opened slowly as when cruising leisurely. But when the throttle is opened quickly it chooses a different map that gives it more grunt. Very cool ! I hope it also has the R3's "12 minute tune" feature.

That is just smart business and just what I figured they would do. Now all they need to do is build a super Bonnie using that engine! That I would definitely buy.

According to a rep in one of the videos they probably will. He didn't outright say they would make a standard version, but in so many words he was saying the platform is going to be used for other versions. So you may have yourself a 1600 standard before too long Carl.

If you had made that call yesterday Dale , you would have saved yourself a lot of unnecessary grief,
AND avoided the possibility of falling out with some fellow forum members.

well, put it this way....if theres a falling out it's not on me. I simply posted a thread about what amounts to a trivial subject with respect to your personal lives in general. You're reading some guy's thoughts on something concerning a motorcycle company in a public forum and you get worked up about it to the point you have to reply in a negitive and mean spirited way? Gotta be better things to spend you time on then creating tension here just because you don't agree on something trivial. In short, i really don't care because if theres a falling out all i did is post something that allowed me to see the true nature of some poeple. You won't find me getting upset about someone's thoughts on what triumph is or isn't doing ! It's foolish to judge me on the content of this thread, but to those who find that it's necassary and important, i have no worries about a falling out with them because if thats thier nature i'd just as soon have no further contact with them. they should take a lesson on how to know know when to speak and when not to from Dave and Carl. I assure you both have likely heard things i and others have said that rub them the wrong way, but they have enough common sense to get past that and leave thier gut feelings out of it.

this is what i hate about forums in general. people just have to nit pic you to death whenever something rubs you the wrong way. Do that in your personal life and you will soon have no friends.
