All was fine this morning when one of my staff members called me - I could hear she was hysterical when another voice came on the line: Lizozo's been involved in an accident. Please come, we're on Jan Smuts Avenue near the zoo!
It's not far from me so off I go! Get an escort through the traffic jam and the police and paramedics clear me through so I can get to Lizozo. Thank the Lord she's OK other than some bad bruises!
Some prat in a 10ton truck who decided that 2 lanes on one of the busiest throroughfares in Johannesburg wasn't enough for him and LANE SPLITS between the minibus taxi Lizozo was in and a small pickup. The minibus and pickup were stationary. He hit the minibus and turned it on it's side then hit the pickup, also turning it on it's side, crushing it against a wall and the minibus, still sliding across the road from the impact, sandwiches the pickup between the wall and the minibus! How the driver of the pickup survived without injury I cannot explain.
But the 10ton truck belonging to B R INSTANT LAWN, took off!!! Other motorists chased him down and pulled him over about 3/4km up the road and held him until the police arrived.
I have to give the police and paramedics 10/10 on this one - they were absolutely brilliant on all counts.
I cannot believe that there were no serious injuries in that wreck but again thank the Lord that Lizozo is ok.
