It is with great regret I realize I will not get around to giving this girl the attention she deserves. So I am offering for sale a fairly rare and desirable Triumph.
The good:
1975 Triumph T160V Trident. One of about 7,100 made, electric start, five-speed gearbox, disk brakes front and rear, complete bike, Boyer electronic ignition, new(ish) Avon tires, good seat, UK spec with larger (4.5 gal) tank, 22k miles (kind-of, see bad, below). This was going to be a restoration, but interests and time availabilty have changed. There is a very good on-line forum to support these bikes and parts are available. The chrome bits are in decent shape, no major rusting or pitting. It has a clean title and I have the shop manual, fwiw.
For comparable sales:
One of these (in about the same condition?) sold on ebay November 2 for $6,200. Mine is cheaper.
There is one on ebay right now (now=Dec 19) at $4,550 with a little over a day to go. It has the smaller tank and is missing the airbox (nice bike though).
A fully restored one sold on ebay December 11 for $9,300. It was/is really nice, but is a non-original color and doesn't have the airbox. Mine is cheaper (but no where near as nice).
The bad:
Not running. The bike has been in dry storage for 4 years and currently doesn't run. Before storage, it ran well, but had a reoccuring issue with the middle plug fouling. I suspect timing, but it could be something else. Tank needs stripped, cleaned, and painted. Not as bad as it could be since the current tank paint is not original. I have a "quote" from a Triumph expert to strip and concours repaint (with the pinstripe missing from mine) for around $600. You could do it yourself for less. Speedometer doesn't work (needs cable at least). Chokes have been removed. Maybe not a bad as I've not seen one with the chokes left due to the constant source of trouble they cause. With the Amal "tickle" valves, the chokes were useless anyway. Primary drain plug has/had a slow leak. Southern engineered "solution" added, but nothing permanent changed. Exhaust baffles have been drilled. It looks better in the pictures than in real life.
The bottom line:
$4,800 and it's yours. Come pick it up in SE Ohio (zip 45640). I will entertain offers, but Triumph isn't making any more of these.
