Welcome to Wreaths Across America – Houston

Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and thanking our veterans for their service and sacrifice. The Wreaths Across America mission is to “Remember, Honor, and Teach”. The annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery started in 1992 is now performed around the country.

There is still time to honor all 70,000 of our fallen heroes for 2015! Did you get your fundraising page set up yet? Click here to set up a page. It is the easiest way to help get the word out and bring in financial support.

Spreading the word about Wreaths Across America-Houston is the best way to ensure that all of our fallen heroes are honored with a wreath this December. Help us to Remember, Honor, and Teach so that we may honor all of our American military One Wreath At A Time.

Wreath Day Is Almost Here!
Saturday, December 12th at 11:00am

Wreath Day is mere weeks away now and our days are getting much busier. It is all falling in place but we still have a long way to go in order to honor all of our heroes with a wreath.

Why come to wreath day?

  • Where else can you see bikers, nuns, soldiers and kids all working simultaneously together in harmony with the same goal, to honor a veteran?
  • Where else can you see helicopters, bagpipes and Marines alongside with girl scouts, senior citizens, and Congressmen?
  • Where else can you easily shake hands with real life true heroes?
  • Where can you find role models for your kids to look up to?
  • Where do you go for a sight that will take your breath away and leave you feeling better about our world today?
All of these things can be found at the Houston National Cemetery on December 12th and it doesn’t cost a cent to be a part of it. Tell your neighbors, They’ll thank you for it.

Video from 2010

We meet the trucks about 30 miles from my house and then escort them the finally 60 miles to Houston National Cemetery. When we roll into the cemetery there is usually several hundred folks along the road at the entrance. From the time we move over to the ceremony location another 1000 to 2000 or more join us. It is an impressive sight to see.

Also, the trucks delivering the wreaths are driven by volunteers that took time off from work, most are veterans, and most of their companies pay the travel expenses of the truck traveling 2200 miles from Harrington, Maine to Houston.

Photos from the last one I was able to be a part of.

The gravestones look really wonderful, it's brilliant that people remember and take the time to let those who have served, that they are well thought of, and the ones that are no longer here, are shown the proper respect due to them.
Good for them all that took the time to attend.

Those wreaths look really nice.
Good to see that THEY are not forgotten
Harrington, ME is only a few hours away from me. Been through it a few times as the Maine coast is a beautiful place. Long way to truck those wreaths.
Sad indeed that so many are needed.

Sadly, I was unable to make the ride today. With the weather forecast for the area I had to stay in the area due to possible work issues. Here's some of what hit the area two miles from the plant. . .

If you look real close at the photo, the bridge is the one I cross to go to the plant.

Hemi, that storm is heading our way and will arrive tonight but in the form of rain turning to snow so it's going to be a mess for a couple of days.
Here on the coast where I live we may get more rain than snow, but it depends on only a couple of degrees in temp. Fingers crossed.
The leading edge id already here and giving wet snow to some areas, but the storm center is yet to arrive.
Oh well, my fridge is stocked and I don't have to go anywhere.

Rocky, all I can say is if it all continues like it has here, y'all will have some beautiful weather when it passes. Today is a perfect day to have a day off. . . Too bad I got called in to work today. :y47:
