I’ve a T100. When I try to start it, it has a loud metallic click in the valve area. Like the valve is sticking and then popping closed. It’s been parked for a while. It has 600 miles on it. I got it from the PO just this last week. I’ve changed the oil and filter and added top end oil to fuel. Any ideas? It’s on the left rear valve of the engine (ref sitting on it). Thanks in advance for any help.

Just had an idea, could that be the injectors? Maybe they are sticking open or ??? Ideas???

Probably won't know unless you remove the valve cover. Much could be sticking on a bike that's been sitting that long. Doubt an injector would be that loud.
Hopefully valve did not stick and get forced closed by the piston.

It was the injectors. They were clogged a bit and were randomly getting stuck. I have ran the bike for the last two hours on a ride with fresh gas and injector cleaner and it’s good to go! No more problems!

Glad it was an easy fix. Didn't think injectors would make that loud of a noise to be confused with a sticking valve. Hope you have many trouble free miles. They are pretty solid engines.

It's not impossible that the engine may have had a problem, but they have been around for so long and are so bullet proof that you have little to worry about.
I would have been surprised if it was an actual engine problem.
I have an '06 T100 (carbs) that I love and it just runs and runs and runs.
It works so well that I haven't been attempted to move up to a newer model - as sweet as some of them are BGRIN
You found a good one. Enjoy TUP TUP
