I've been off on vacation since 0500 7/3/14 and will return to work at 0500 7/25/14. Most of the items I've wanted to do while off have not been done. The weather and other chores have gotten in the way of MY plans.

I have been successful in getting the engine bars installed, even if I didn't get to do it myself. I've sourced all the parts, I think I've gotten all of them for the tool tube I'm building for the bike. Kim said it looks like a howitzer barrel. :y2:

Every time I've turned around there has been something come up to keep me from getting the tool tube fabricated. Kim didn't like the bid we received on the new roof and has been scheduling roofers and remodeling contractors to come out for inspections and bid submitals. Of course she sets them up for the mornings I had planned on riding before the temps got too high. I could have used those down times to work on the tool tube but I won't do it while there's several folks at the house doing their bid inspections, I'm not going to let them see what's in the garage.

There were a few other things I needed to do so several days were wasted on those tasks.

This week she is off too so yesterday we did our "vacation" for the year. We went to Italy, Poland, Monaco, Vatican City, Germany, Russia, Belgium, France, Greece, Holland, Japan, Canada, California, Minnesota and Mexico. Well we sort of went to those places. We had Italian food for lunch and ate Mexican food for supper.

To tour the other sites we went to the National Funeral Museum in Spring, Texas, the Holocaust Museum in Houston and then to Rice University to get Kyle a better look at the campus along with another look at a piece of the Berlin Wall.

I forgot my phone and the camera, actually I remembered them before we pulled out of the driveway but didn't go back for them since Kim had her phone with her. I didn't realize her phone wasn't fully charged so these are the only photos I was able to get from the Funeral Museum.

A Packard Funeral Bus used only a couple times in San Francisco. The thought was they could reduced the size of the funeral procession by having the casket, pall bearers and 20 mourners in one vehicle. The top speed was in the 18 to 20 MPH range. The bus was still sitting on the original solid rubber tires. The bus was removed from service after they were climbing a hill and the weight in the rear end caused the bus front end to lift off the road and then the rear bumper hit the road. This action caused the pall bearers to tumble on top of the mourners and the casket turned over on to its side which dislodged the top and the corpse fell out of the casket.
