BTW....I'd unfortunately have to agree with Carl that the Naval Academy at Annapolis would be next to impossible for a foreigner to get appointed to. There are literally hundreds of American kids that get turned down AND you need someone like a politician to sponsor (appoint) you.

We checked out the Academy and realised how elite it is and how difficult it is to get in but................. would the US Naval Attache & US Ambassador do as a sponsor?? Just kidding.

When I saw the bit about Bike week, my immediate thought was.............That's when we'll visit him! Female anatomy?? Please Seeker, one step at a time - I'm struggling to come to terms with him being a teenage and looking to leave home - I don't want to think about the other stuff!:y2:

I raised two boys...so I know that boys will be boys and that's just the way it goes.

I will never forget the day my Wife visited my Son away at school and accidentally found (forum family friendly here) a form of male contraception in his apartment. She was all shocked and stuff. I patted him on he back for being smart enough to USE them! :y2:

I think that's every mother's nightmare! :y2: I've warned him that there's no partying without a party hat! I'm just dreading the day I take him his morning coffee and 2 heads pop up from under the duvet! Gone are the days when boys hid under the covers with a torch and dad's Playboy - now days it's the internet right under your nose!

When my Son returned from Iraq, my Wife was also a bit miffed that he seemed more interested in secluding himself in a room with his Girlfriend than he was with visiting his Parents.

I tried to explain to her that he'd been in a place where all the women wear burquas and smell like camels for nearly three years!

I'd have been MORE worried if he DIDN'T want to see his girlfriend more than his Mom.

Gromit, I live about 50 minutes from Daytona Beach. I generally avoid Bike Week except for the races and manufacturers' displays which are both held at the Speedway. Embry Riddle is on the east side of the airport and the Speedway is located on the northwest side of the airport. Everyone should attend Bike week once. It is something else. I'll let it go at that. :y2:

My late son was an aerospace engineering major at the University of Florida when he was called up for deployment. He had considered Embry Riddle; but he decided on the Army National Guard as his route to be pilot while he was going to school.

How many of us here on this forum can honestly say that the career they followed was their love and passion vs a job where either parents influenced the choice and although its been lucrative, it's still been 'just a job'??

Like Dave, I realized my dreams by both a career in the army and 17 years in forestry. I didn't enjoy all of my assignments; but for the most part I did. I have a had a great life.
