If I'm reading this right, he's a Captain in the medical corps, flying helicopters, excuse the ignorance.
Good for him, that is one very rewarding job that is vital for the troops in the thick of it. I know that the UK had the Medical Emergency Response Team in action in Afghanistan, which saved countless coalition troops lives.
To fly into a danger zone like Afghan, or anywhere else for that matter, takes courage indeed.

My son is learning to fly helicopters, but civilian craft. couldn't convince him to try the forces here, can't handle the level of discipline.
