Tiger 500

Hello, Dont know if im on the right thread, but here goes my question. Just had a complete top end done on my Triumph Tiger 500 year is 1967. The mechanic told me not to be alarmed if the bike smokes for breakin miles. Said it would clear up after the rings have seated ect. Is this normal after haveing a top end done. Ive seen some rebuilds that dont smoke at all after a complete rebuild or just smoke dureing first start until oil burns off. Just wondering if im being given some misinformation. Any info. would be appreciated.

I have found it very strange that two identical bikes can be so different in running condition, even after total overhaul. Yes, some smoke, some don't!

Also, two identical bikes "like" to be prepped differently for startup, even with the same jetting, plugs, etc. "I tickle mine twice and kick twice before turning on the key", "I use the choke slides and one tickle", I use one tickle, turn on the key and kick it", etc...
