Hi. Is there someone that can give me some advice on a Triumph sprint 1050 gt 2011. Need to know where is the fan relay position.
Is there somebody that done a tuneecu on a sprint gt, if so can I get help to take me through the steps to
I'm new on this group and this is my first triumph. Use to ride Honda Blackbird and Suzuki

Did you ever get a satisfactory reply to the two questions posed? I have a 2011 Sprint GT 1050, but haven't had to find the fan relay. Someday, I might (the bike has 42k miles/68k km on the clock), so any info you have to share would be great! Same for the balance pipe question. PS. What is a balance pipe and what is its purpose?

Sorry for the late response; I'm just perusing the site while I have a few spare minutes.

The crossover pipe is how engineers equalize exhaust system backpressure. Backpressure is necessary to reduce the amount of fresh gasoline sucked into the exhaust system during the intake stroke when both the intake and exhaust valves are open on carbureted bikes. Later model bikes like the Triumph Bobber use the catalytic converter as the crossover pipe, where both exhaust pipes enter the cat and the cat has two outlets to the silencers.

The engineering of the exhaust has to do with the removal of spent gasses in the combustion chamber. On modern bikes that are fuel injected the injector is located in the throat of the throttle body. Fuel is injected at a time when the air flow is high in the venturi to maximize the mixing and vaporization of the fuel in the combustion chamber. The time of maximium air flow is the portion of intake stroke where the intake valve and exhaust valves are both open. This is due to the eduction effect of the exhaust's collector where rapidly expanding gasses cause a slight vacuum in the exhaust system to occur. This vacuum helps draw in fresh air into the combustion chamber and exhaust pipe. The more fresh air in the chamber the more efficiient the combustion process. This can also lead to putting some unspent fuel down the exhaust pipe. The timing of all this and where the pressures are changing in the cycle is how the engineers 'tune' the system to maximize the efficiency of the cycle.

Hi Rob. Not sure if you're aware, but if you place your mouse over someone's name or avatar on the side of a post you can see when they were last here. The person whom you asked a question to has not been on the forum since May. Leon van Xyl made three posts on this forum and they were all in this thread. Atomsplitter did answer his query anyways.
