I am restoring a 1978 T140E. Someone is making a big deal with the Triumph logo with loop - I am talking about parts like the rubber foot rest or shift rubber. Can you please tell me the difference between loop and no loop? Thanks

If what you mean by "loop" is what I think you mean, the classic Triumphs had the "loop" while the Bloor era Triumphs don't. So your '78 ought to have the "loop". But I don't think these parts are interchangeable anyhow.

As The Seeker said "But I don't think these parts are interchangeable anyhow".

If you are looking at the correct fitting footrest rubbers for a T140E they should have the loop.
Why would they make old style footrest rubbers and put the new style logo on them?

There is no right or wrong, but personally I couldn't live with what you are suggesting, I'd want the correct logo for the year of bike.

Not exactly, I'm saying "I wouldn't be cheap" on a small ticket item. What you do is OK, it's personal, after all most of us don't ride for transport but ride for personal pleasure.
I agree, it's your bike and it's personal to you. Do whatever pleases you.
Any such items I've seen have the correct logo. Possibly what happened is that the "loop" was left off by an offshore maker. Pattern parts aren't always that good.
But.......for a small ticket item I would try to get what looks reasonably correct - and I'm not an "originality" fanatic.
That said, the foot rubbers on both of my old bikes are nearly worn off from years of riding so in the long run it won't matter much :y2:

After I posted the message above I began to think about the footpeg rubbers on my old Triumph so went down and took a look. Each one is cast "TRIUMPH" only with no loop.
They've been on there for about 17 years so either I didn't notice or didn't care:y2: I expect that most (if not all) of the rubber products available today will be the same.
I don't think I would worry much about it and ignore the "originality" nit picker nut :y15:

I was watching the racing so hard that I forgot that my 2010 has alloy pegs, no rubber. LOL.

Sent using mental telepathy because I'm in teleportation mode at this time.

Thanks guy. Right now, the rubber footrests have no loop (I can only assume these footrests came with the bike). I don't now why it didn't have the loop according to the above comments from another member....anyway i'll on it. Thanks
