I need to buy panniers for a new 900 GT Pro. I had Expedition panniers on my 800 Tiger xrx. Looking at the Trekker panniers (side and top case) for the 900 GT Pro.

Leaning towards the Trekkers for price and size. Looking for experience and/or comments regarding each one.

Thanks

I have the the Expedition and i like them for the access they give you as well as the ability to strap stuff on them , and they make great cash protection :y147:.

But the Trekkers are a lot cheaper and they have that handy quarter open flap on the top , and i think there a fare bit lighter too .

Thanks Shanered,

I found out later that the Trekkers are a combination of hard plastic and aluminum. I could not tell that from the description. So, they might be robust enough to hold up in a side-ways drop, but I would hate to find out differently. Yes, the Expeditions are rugged.

My Tiger came with Expedition panniers which have served me well but its annoying how far the exhaust side sticks out (makes filtering a nightmare). They only leak if I use a jet wash but require regular maintenance (wipe with polish or oil), especially in the hidden parts, or the surface gets marked.

They are essentially Givi Trekker Outbacks which can be found for less but for some reason the Triumph and Givi mounting hardware is slightly different so you need to buy the correct type. I added a Givi Trekker Outback top box, fitting the bracket required drilling the Triumph plastic rack but was straightforward.

Givi accessories fit the Expedition luggage, I have Givi nets in the pannier and top box lids and loading strips on top of the pannier lids which are great for strapping stuff onto them as well as providing a non slip surface to place things like helmets on when stopped.

I can't speak for the strength of the Trekkers but I clipped my car with the Expedition panniers when squeezing past it and they cracked its bumper with no visible damage to them.

I've never had the expedition pen years, but I have had the trackers. I really like those and I think I would prefer them because how easy they are to detach and become portable luggage with a handle. I think they look better too.
