I personally would keep that Trophy. It's got a gutsier motor that is over-engineered (bulletproof) with enough torque to pull trees out of the ground and the bike itself is more versatile. You've got a tremendous sport tourer with loads of the sport side and for long distance and carrying stuff with you, you've got the panniers and top box.
 
that is all true ! i think my heart is ruling my head :y8: but ever since i saw the one back in 1994 i was hooked !
i read some where that the super 3 was tuned by cosworth but i dont now for sure !
 
I believe that the first Trophy engines (when Triumph made it's debut comeback) were licensed from Cosworth. If you look at those engines without the fairings, they look exactly like 1/2 of a Cosworth DFV V-8.
 
you are spot on there seekeer ! ive just done some resurch in to that ,and there are a lot of people who own both sets of clothes for the 900 and swap and change between the two .
as is the 1200 daytona and trophy. so i had a daytona with a better fairing the whole time !:y2:

im still a bit wet behind my ears when it comes to later triumph's :y78:

I hate the job of just removing pieces of the fairing to change the oil and/or other things.

Right now, I need to get access to underneath my dashboard to repair the rubber fasteners which it's mount with. Over time, they tend to separate themselves - which causes the dash to jiggle over bumps. It's not a critical job, but it's annoying.

They are like little bolts with rubber attached to the end. They separate between the rubber and the melt part of the bolt. Instead of buying new ones, I re-attach the rubber to the metal with some glue. That usually lasts for about 2 years before I need to do it again.

But I'm lazy and hate undoing all those fairing fasteners to get in there.
 
And that is precisely why I do not care for faired bikes. However, if I lived in your neck of the woods, I would feel differently; I would have to have one faired bike for cold weather riding.
 
i think ill stick with the devil i now ! its all to easy to get cought up in the thrill of the deal .
its time to s for what i stick my own stamp on the bike ! and to be honest were am i going to get a trophy with only 24300 miles on the clock ,for next to nothing (£635) ! i do like a good haggle its a welsh thing (its called tight) :y56::y23:

Not just cold weather, but also the comfort level when taking longer trips. Plus, if I don't slow down, I can ride in the rain and not get wet!

I've gotten spoiled by the fairing and find riding without one at highway speeds pretty uncomfortable.

I was actually thinking the same thing...the Daytona would only save you a couple thousand miles and you'd then have a bike that is so much less versatile. Remove your top box and panniers, and you have a bike almost as sporty. Plus the styling of the Trophy is a real eye-catcher. I still get many comments on how pretty of a bike the Trophy is.
