So I just fitted my 900 Rally Pro with 50/50 tires. My buddy who's no stranger to ADV riding suggested around 36 lbs. of pressure in the rear wheel. I did so and was met with warning lights and "STOP THE MOTORCYCLE NOW!!" message.
Specification pressure in the manual is 42 or above for the rear tire. So anything lower than that and I'll get warning lights? Is there a bypass? Coming from a guy that's never had to deal with this, I find it odd that the bike is so regulated.

The front tire on mine calls for 32 psi, I run it at 36psi with no warnings from my TPMS. That is mostly pavement running. Keep the rear at 39 psi(factory spec). If I was to get into some bad sections when off road, I would air down the front to about 32psi(factory setting for my bike), and air down the rear just a couple of psi. The only time you need them lower than that would be in sand, I would think. Run them too low and you increase the chance of punctures and damaging the rim.
I have Trailmax Missions on my bike.
Maybe your TPMS is more sensitive than the one on my bike. Try bringing it up to the factory psi and drop it a couple of psi at a time to find out where the TPMS will trigger a warning.
Unless you spend most time off road, the factory setting should be fine, plus or minus a few psi when off road.

Very good points. Unfortunately I'm in Florida where there's lots of sand. More than likely the factory spec is fine. Lots to get used to with this bike.
There are a few things that annoy me about the bike when it comes to warning lights and messages. But the things I love about the bike far outweigh the negatives.

My guess is that even if you uncheck the TPMS option to have it on the dashboard, the warning message will still appear. Does anyone know?

The more I look into it, low tire pressure on a heavy (er) bike is not necessarily a good thing. I think I'll just go with the lowest recommended pressure. After a weekend of riding in deep sand, I think technique is far more important.

I dropped the pressure in my TKC-80s on my Tiger 900 to 32/34 and will run it that way for my next ride. Now that I think about it, I ran 30/30 for the same tires on my 1200GS water boxer and had good performance with no issues.

You've not getting tire pressure warning messages?

I have been riding my Tiger 900 with 36/42 so there were no TFT warnings. I'll try 32/34 next ride but there will be warning notifications on the dash. I can count on it.

I went to 32/34 when off pavement and had the billboard warning on the TFT. Press "select" and the warning is turned off but the low tire pressure icon remains on. Similarly, when "off road" mode is selected, the billboard warning appears on the TFT to the effect that OCABS (Optimized Cornering ABS) is not activated (press "select" and that goes away). The ABS and TC icons will come on periodically but at least the huge billboard warnings are gone and the TFT will operate as normal provided regular information.
