Anyone else have the same problem? I seem to spend a fortune on sunglasses. i buy a pair and either 1)-something thats just not right about them reveals it's ugly head after i already bought them, 2)-the get lost, 3)-they break, 4)-they fly off your face when turning your head to see if the next lane is clear when doing freeway speeds. I can't win. I have a bag full of them that didn't work out, and the ones that DID work great either endued up on the freeway or broke or scratched beyond use or lost. i think i've spend probably $100-150 in the last 3 years and spent probably 5% of my riding time with glasses on that i was happy with. Just 2 days ago i spent $10 on a pair only to find they don't sit well and are too dak unless i tilt my head up. So now i'm back using the pair before that which lets too much air in. I work near hollywood blvd where there are a million places that sell glasses and i often spend my lunch hour searching for the type i know works best but usually either go back to work empty handed or with a pair that will turn out to be money down the tubes. The last good pair broke after only a month or so, anda perfect pair that i had about 5 pairs before that i lost. I can't win !!!! :oh:    :y20: :y39: :y25:

Dazco, get a quality pair of aviator sunglasses and wear a head strap with them. They won't fly off or fall off. I have gradient lens prescription glasses - good for day or night. The lens are glass - a little heavier; but they don't scratch.

I have a pair of Ray Ban with prescription lenses in them. I have never had a problem as they fit snugly when I have my helmet on. I actually have a bit of a battle getting them off when I need too.

I figured out what kind to go with to keep em from coming off, so thats not really an issue anymore. I just posted this for fun and to see what others use and what issues they may have had. Now my biggest problem is to find ones that allow minimal air in without being so big as to cause me to see the frames when i wear them giving you a sort of double vision scenario. Secondly to get the right shade, which often looks fine when trying them but on the bike i find them too dark. Anyways, no expensive ones for me because trust me, i'll lose them or drop them on cement and scratch them or something. The best pair i ever had were flawless in every way. just loved them. Lost them.....
Problem is, sunglasses are so fashion oriented the overseas companies that make them change style literally every few weeks or months and you can never find the same ones again. So you gotta buy a bunch of em when you find a really good pair. Funny thing is, when i first got the bike i bought one of the worse pairs i ever had....from a motorcycle shop made for riders !!!

Well I have been very lucky with my pair they are metal framed and have stood up very well to the helmet so far. Basically I could not ride without them anymore and I only drop my visor at higher speeds now.

I would go to the optometrist and tell him what you want them for, then say "I'll be back in two days to pick them up, you can fit them then"

Seriously though, all my wifes sunglasses (Ray ban, oakleys, police etc) have been done this way.

Forget the store bought crapola.

I have a pair of Maui Jim "sport" sunglasses. They have soft arms so they fit nicely under a helmet, very light weight, excellent photochromatic lenses, don't scratch too easily and very comfortable. Haven't fallen off yet. I've sat on them, dropped them, squashed them and they're still great. Bought Farside a pair too and he likes them. I used to swear by Vuarnets until I tried the MJ's. They're brilliant.

I have a sure-fire way to get sunglasses that fit well and that I will not lose. It starts with "Flexon" teardrop frames. Those are the ones that can be stepped on and driven over without losing their shape. Next come the teardrop lenses: G-15 Polarized, 100% UV protective, with a slight distance correction for estigmatism and a progressive reader correction. They have good wind blockage, although I usually wear a full face helmet anyway.

The secret is that, since these hot rods are quite pricey, there is a very strong incentive to get the right fit and never lose them. Since my opthalmologist is also one of my fishing/hunting buddies, I get these things at his cost. Otherwise, I could not afford it. I've had these same frames going on nine years. If I am in the wind or on the water, I attach Croakies.

After years of experimenting I have a stunning pair of Gucci sunglasses. They don't fold around the ear so they don't dig in. Can ride with them for days. I also have a cupboard full of has beens that are either too old fashioned to wear or they hurt the crap out of me. Will keep the old fashioned ones for when the fashions come back again. (Like a good pair of old boots - remember my furry jobbies?) :y114:

I have bought tinted contact lenses as I am tired of my glasses getting scratched.
They are photgramatic so I can wear them indoors too.

I'm so glad they're photgramatic. They might help with your grammar and spelling too! :y24:
