The school across the road from me had a bad lightning strike on Friday afternoon. Their alarm has been going off incessantly since then and our phone lines have been doing strange things since.

Telkom (SA's official and only ADSL hard-line provider) went to sort out the school's phone, fax and ADSL line today - since the school and both my neighbours phone lines all connect to the junction box on my property, Telkom in their wisdom, CUT THROUGH THE WRONG LINES!!!

I'm now using a wireless "dongle" which is painfully slow by comparison and Telkom cannot tell me when our lines are going to be sorted.

How frustrating to say the least!:y14:

As you know, Margo, F'burg was unseasonably chilly. I had a great time though. Missed you! :y16:
Glad to hear Farside's bike is fixed. In your capacity as Tech Guru, please let us know what was the problem. :)

Yeah I missed catching with everyone too - next year I'll be there though. I'm trying to figure out what happened with the scrambler but I can tell you this for certain - he did NOT pack the standard tool kit so he had to rely on Duncan! Hurumph!

turned out to be a blockage in the fuel line. Now if he'd had his cable ties with him, he could've disconnected the fuel line, shoved a cable tie down the line a few times and pushed the blockage out - but no, didn't take the tool kit!

Do you have two separate lines one ADSL and one phone as it normally all works on just the one

I have 2 separate lines - ADSL runs fax and VOIP and web etc then I have a normal private landline - don't want clients to have my 'home' number - as it is because I work from my home property clients feel that they can drop in at anytime even on Sundays, late at night, early in the morning - anytime that suits them because "but you're here all the time" - peeves me no end. I don't answer my work mobile on weekends so can you imagine what would happen if my clients had our private house number?
