Hello all

I got a 2017 Scrambler a few weeks ago and was wondering what my options are in terms of installing older tank badges on a new tank. I realize that the badges that come with the bike are glued on so I will have to remove them (which is no big deal). The ones I am interested in are for the 1956 to 1965 models and are bolt ons. I was wondering if there is some sort of a kit available to install such badges on a new bike.

Thank you very much in advance for all your help.

It would be cool if that can be done, but I've never heard of anything like what you're looking for.
If there is something like a kit of some sort I haven't heard of it - but of course I haven't heard of everything BGRIN
Maybe others have some info or ideas.

I have used double stick tape on tank badges and on car emblem castings, in fact i taped on the 442 emblem years ago on my Olds 442. The tape i used was bought from NAPA i think, most auto parts dealers sell some that is top quality, stop by a body shop they can tell who sells the best brand, its works good! be aware when you make the move to place it there is no turning back, be sure everything is lined up, i used masking tape to "square" everything up. When you attache it it bonds immediately and is stuck when it touches the surface so be ready to have it where you want it !!!

Thank you Triumph David I got some industrial 3M tape that I am planning on using to mount the badges, I am figuring out the screw issue but I think I have a solution, since the mounting is quite different. I should be able to get to it this weekend. I will keep you updated on my progress.

Do you have the replacement tank Badges? Are they metal or plastic? Do they lay flat and fit snugly against the contour of the tank? You don't want the badges to be able to rock or have any raised edges front or back.
If all goes well for you, you could cut the heads off some screws and glue them in place for the "screwed on" look. It would be easier to do that before you mount the badges.
I would use stainless steel screw/bolt heads to avoid any corrosion or rust issues later on. Stainless would blend in with the chrome.
If you want the Triumph name to pop out I would paint them black. An exterior grade black paint, a small artists brush and lots of patience will really pay off.
By all means, tell us how things go. I enjoy "detail" projects like this.

I did get the replacement badges, they are metal I painted and they came out pretty good. They don’t really fit the contour of the tank and the “rubber seals” I got don’t fit the badges so I will have to figure something out. I feel like it would look better with the “rubber edge” around the badges ... I was planning to cut the heads off and glue them on but I am also looking at other options by making a bracket with nuts so it turns into a one piece thing making it easier to mount. I’ll see what I can come up with.

Great job painting the badges. That makes then pop TUP TUP
Years ago I bought after market badges for my 1970 Triumph and they wouldn't lay flat against the tank because the contour wasn't correct. No matter what I did either the front or back was raised and prone to catching clothing or whatever.
I returned them and had the originals re-chromed. This is why I asked about fit.
Good luck and keep us in the loop. We enjoy projects like this.
