Hello All,

I've been out of the country for the last two years and my 2016 T120 Bonneville sat unattended for all that time at my best friends house who said he'd run it around the block every couple of weeks or so. Well he didn't so it's been sitting with about 2 gallons of 87 octane ethanol fuel and of course it won't start. I took a look inside the gas tank and the fuel 'looks' ok. There was some rust at the opening of the tank but not much. What are your recommendations on getting her running again?

Thanks in advance!

Can you jump it? Was it sitting wo a battery tender?

Yes, it will turn over. I decided to pull everything apart and it looks awful. The gas tank is full of sediment and black tar which I assume is varnish. The fuel pump is also caked in black tar. The rubber baffle fell apart while removing it from the tank. I hope that none of this got past the fuel filter and entered into the fuel injectors. I'm going to order new parts but would like to know if there's a place to order aftermarket as OEM is on the expensive side. I will clean the tank with white vinegar and hope that cleans it up.

Wow sorry this happened to you and your friend didn’t cycle out the ethanol gas. Sounds like the black stuff is all stuff leached off the seals and any hoses re-acting with the ethanol. You’ll probably want to replace all hoses and seals in the gas system and tank. How badly is the tank rusted, think you can get it flushed? Likely need to clean the injectors and replace any filters as well. Let us know how you resolve it.
