Good morning,

I am new to the forum and exited to join the Triumph family.

I am looking at purchasing a 2018 T120 Black (10K miles). The bike is in overall great condition, however noticed some coating is flaking on the top left exhaust header as pictured (apologize for picture quality).

Do you guys have any ideas about causes? Is this normal, or cause of concern? The right side does not show any signs of coating abnormalities. Thanks in advance for your input/guidance.

Is it possible something landed on it when it was hot and now that's what's flaking? Piece of plastic would do this. Where it's only one side and today's bikes are so tightly controlled by the ECU, I doubt it's running hot just on the one side.
Get the owner to take it to a Triumph dealer and check for proper operation of the ECU and for any codes. If he doesn't wish to do that, maybe it's questionable.
My 2 cents.

Appreciate everyone’s input - sorry, took a while to get back. Owner claimed he would take to dealer, but never heard back. So on to the next one…

Houston area inventory (used) is limited right now, and looking at a 2019 T120 that had a “low speed crash”. That means scratches on left engine cover and bent clutch lever. As my primary bike is a 1200 GS, no big deal and dealer claims damages all cosmetic (title is clean).

Could you provide some guidance as to what I need to look for in terms of determining extended damages? I will test ride bike on the weekend. Thanks again.
