My Ride
2020 Triumph Bobber Black
Riding Since
1977
Weather was nice enough to go for a short (90 minute) ride yesterday. Tom is off work this week and he wanted to get some miles on his Striple while he had the time. Gave me a chance to put some miles on the new Metezeler buns on the T-Bird and see how it's behaving with the new airbox sensor. We didn't do our usual route of Southlake, Grapevine, North Richland Hills, Keller, Flower Mound, instead we did some roads we haven't taken in several months. Those really rough secondary streets we encountered were all absorbed beautifully by the T-Bird's suspenders, gotta admit the thing is comfortable as a Barcalounger on full recline. I have the rear shocks dialed two clicks up from bottom and that is a good setting so far, I may increase it one more just to be sure. After about 90 minutes Tom was getting cold so we headed for my house. On the way I suggested he take the 'Bird around the block to see how it compares to my Bobber. He did and his opinion was it's a lot heavier and more cumbersome than my Bobber. He also said it was like riding on his couch comfortable. Today the weather may cooperate to let us do another short ride, but today I'll take the Thruxton R if we go. Really like that little beast in SPORT mode in the twisties.

I clocked 85mi on Christmas Day...early am 45 F....Yesterday 2 hrs of country cruisin 50 F. Beautiful sights, smells, peace and unquiet! Love the sound of rubber on the road and exhaust under acceleration.
Gettin' close to putting the LSR thru some paces here shortly.
Happy 2025 to all.

Going to be + 6 C , 45 F , tomorrow . If I wasn’t still recovering from my bout with walking pneumonia I would be giving the Tigers battery a charge . Might go anyway , had a good walk today and seem fine .

Keep on, keeping on.

It's very nice to see the rides being posted here, and the mild temps you're having.
We had more than a foot of snow over Christmas which is the first white Christmas here in ten years.
Winter here isn't what it used to be and the temps yo-yo from around 23F to a rainy day like today at 38F.
At least the snow is taking a beating BGRIN

Yesterday was warm enough to use my ventilated jacket over a T-shirt. Rode for about 2 and half hours in some awesome temps for late December (near 80 degrees F). Took the Speed Triple this go round and since Tom didn't feel a need to accomodate a HP delta between his Speed Triple and any of my other bikes, hooliganism followed. We were over in Flower Mound when a guy on a Harley-Davidson Sportster S was in the next lane over at a stop light. When he took off he gave it the beans, and I just couldn't resist the impulse. I blew by him in first gear with the motor shrieking at full throat. Clicked up 2 gears and was decelerating when he went by me. I heard Tom laughing loudly like a mad man in my helmet headset. I guess I'm just a geriatric teenager on that bike....

Please DO NOT overdo it Brooke!
If you do, Jack Daniel's manufactures an M/C heating device in a bottle.

Went to the drug store , picked up a few groceries , had a nap after lunch then went for an hours walk. . When sweetie got back from the early fire works I made her supper . Russets, parsnip , carrots , broccoli , and steak .
It was milder today than predicted and with sunshine all afternoon must have hit 10 C . Apparently New Brunswick set many temperature records , which is not much of oddity anymore with this climate change affecting Canada more than most .
Anyway I was tempted Sparky but held off and am glad I did . Feeling quite good tonight despite being down 4 to 1 to USA , penalty issues as usual and thinking I’ll be able to get back to the gym next week . It’s been 2 months since I saw a treadmill .

YUM, when are we all riding up for dinner?

I often ride with So Cal Norton Owners Club, though most bikes on rides are Trumpets, but any brand of bike is welcome. Every 12/31 we depart Pasadena and head up Angeles Crest Hwy and, weather permitting are fed lunch by a gracious friend. This ride is called The Run For The Roses (I guess referencing Pasadena’s Rose Parade).

In years past it has been nice (like this year), wet and miserable, lightly snowing, and, at worst, simply impassable due to snow. We had a great turn out this year -probably 40-50 bikes- and quite a few made it the 25 miles or so to lunch. A wonderful SoCal tradition.

65 miles ridden in 70 degree-ish F SoCal "winter" perfection. Photo taken about 2pm near top of Latigo Canyon Road above Malibu.

Do you ride with Barney D.?

Nice bike . Obviously massaged over the years to suit your particular and practical needs , no tail tidy required , I like your style . I have my Thruxton R set up in a similar mode so it can do long weekend trips . Notice you don’t have rear foot pegs though , which is an addition I just had to make . At my age you’ve got to be prepared , any passenger could be the last …..

Thanks, Brooke. I’ve owned it since new and, you’re right; plenty of tweaks to make it work for me. I removed the passenger pegs as they flopped down by themselves, and I didn’t care for the look of them being zip tied to the frame. I’m still looking for an appropriate replacement for the clevises that looks good and doesn’t cost $80.
My girl and I rode two-up for years, but now I prefer having a tail bag at all times. If I want to ride two-up these days, I’ll take the Storm.

My gal hasn’t been on the back since 1974 , the brown H2 . Some times I wish she still rode but NOT does have it’s advantages . I have a small Saddlemen with stuff in it that I move from the Tiger to the R for day rides . I think the pegs were the first thing I did to the R . They are small but they are perfect for a change in riding position break .D9A16195-6345-44D6-AE8F-43026E49D710.jpeg
