Was working in my garage when I heard the sound of propeller motors. Somehow it sounded non civilian. LoL.

The Confederate Airforce (changed their name to something else now) was near Houston (Sugarland airport?) and a regular sight as they flew off to some show or other. When I lived there several years ago I went there to help clean parts and restore with one of the pilots.

They are CAF Commemorative Air Force now. Have been for a few decades I think. I live within the downtown Houston area and they do flyovers occasionally. Might have had a show of some sort past weekend.

Nice photos, they definitely have a unique sound.

The CAF has some aircraft based at the Conroe airport and are frequent flyers over my house. The Texas Raiders (May she Rest In Peace) was based at Conroe, now that was an awesome sound when she flew over.

The Texas Raiders Memorial. It’s hard to believe it has been a year since the tragic incident that took her, her crew, the AeroCobra, and her pilot.

The Memorial was funded by the family of a local car dealer. He is well known in the area for his generosity with local high schools athletics programs and other areas not as well known. He also has one of the finest car collection in the area. I know several that have toured his “garage” and some day I hope to do the same.
