Pittsburgh has the 2nd LEAST number of sunny days (Seattle is #1) with only an average of 51 per year.

Heat pumps and solar stuff are totally useless around here.

When heat pumps first came out, the electric company pushed them to customers in an advertising campaign (mostly for new construction). When they didn't keep people's houses warm in the dead of winter there was a class action law suit where the electric company had to pay for people to get regular gas furnaces (which really HAD to hurt the electric company to admit that gas was better).

Well I got a quote today and I am looking at around 22,000.00 ZAR = 3,223.31 USD that is after the subsidy, so this is out of the question :y7:

Dave, that's expensive - shop around. There are better prices - phone Eskom and aks for their list of preferred service providers and see how that works. If not, let me know and I'll see if the company we contacted does work in your area.

This whole green energy thing is priced right out of reach for the normal person by the looks of it, I think I will just go and hug a few trees its much cheaper :y2:

This was the Eskom service providers for my area I got it off Eskoms site :y7: I think I will just pass right now as I am getting mix reports on how well it all works.

That is an accurate statement. Most of the "Green" stuff is simply feel god for those who can afford it. The vast majority of us will never recoup our investements is such systems - unless we can do them ourselves.
