Got 2-3 cms of snow here tonight, then freezing rain for a short while. Now it's pouring rain and temps going up to +8C overnight and tomorrow. What a sloppy mess out there. Back down in the deep freeze Thursday. I wish it would make up it's mind dammit!

We have had temps in the teens for the last few days and its foretasted until Sunday, no one around here is prepared for this kind of weather especially me. Broke all kind of records for freezing weather, alot of people's water pipes are busted, pumpers are busy this week for sure. I am ready for summer, I am never satisfied.

BGRIN well, just be happy that you're not up here and in the path of that nor'easter that's coming up the coast.
High winds, snow, snow turning to freezing rain, turning to rain FACE this is going to be a mess and power outages are expected so my fingers are crossed.

R, i saw that on the news this AM, better you than me!
We get this crap a lot in the winter, and we're sorta used to it, but believe me, that doesn't mean we like it :y20:
I went grocery shopping early this week and have charged up all my batteries.
The shelves are stocked and I have food on hand that can be eaten cold if we lose power.
The fridge and freezer will remain closed to keep them cold as possible and should stay cold for a couple of days if need be this time of year.
Hopefully, none of this prep will be needed.

We're going to miss the freezing rain on this one Rocky, but the 30-40 cms of snow and high winds will more than make up for it with blizzard conditions.
Got plenty of wood for the wood stove and a generator, so we should make out alright.
Gonna be a fun time. NOT!

I would prefer a snow storm and freezing temps instead of the mess we're expecting.
Of course, it's hard work to remove snow, but my blower does most of the work so a snow storm doesn't bother me all that much.
That transition from snow to freezing rain is what will bring down power lines and tree branches on power lines.
The very high winds will only add to that possible power outage hazard.

But as we often like to say, "You don't have to shovel rain."
We're never satisfied BGRIN

You know i bitch about the cold weather down here but we have things like hurricanes that destroy everything for weeks / years, it is just another form of weather to bring us back to reality. Thankfully weather like this only comes around ever so often, thats when we both need generators, chainsaws, can food ect. and we get to bitch about the weather.

It's nearly noon and where I am it just started to rain so we missed the snow phase at 3C+ (37F+), but as the temp drops on the back side of the storm it could become serious.
Hard to believe the swing in temp as it was -15C (4F) all week.
Heavy rain still predicted for today and tonight with high winds.
Friday could be a real mess, but I have no reason to go anywhere and will just wait it out.

Started here about noon as well.
Really coming down out there. 20-25 cms(8-10 inches) already and it's not letting up.
0 visibility at times. Plows have been pulled off the highways.
May post pics later so you can all laugh.

Yes, it's brutal up there Q!
Here on the coast all we got was heavy rain at times and very high gusting winds that were near hurricane force.
Still that way this morning, but no rain. It's very mild at around 5C (41F).
Parts of the province and city lost power, but I got lucky and didn't lose power.
I'm seeing pictures from down in the Carolina's and New England with all their snow. A bad scene and some loss of life.

Update:
It's been a couple of hours since I posted the above message, and as the storm moves away, in comes that arctic air and the temp is expected to drop to -18C (0F) tonight FACE

Time to bring out the bed socks me thinks. Stay warm Rocky, and the rest of you all in Canada and the US too.

Well we only got about 30 cms before it switched over to rain.
Soaked down through the snow and froze to the frigid ground.
Our main highways are skating rinks and secondary highways lumpy skating rinks.
Back down to the deep freeze for another few days. What a mess.
Move to New Brunswick they said. It'll be fun they said.
Grin and bear it.

were not getting it as brutal as you guys but its been between +2c and -10c here for 3 weeks now and its set to go colder over the weekend -15c , every time i grit we get ice rain on the top and its back to square one .
the roads on the estate are lethal you literally cannot stand on them its just sheet ice , but my arms are now starting to drop off after gritting 3 miles of roads by hand 6 times in 2 weeks ...... JUST :y20:AND FACE!

We get this yo-yo weather a lot and makes getting around quite dangerous away from the manicured roads and streets.
The city and province do a good job with plowing and salting, but private roads, walks, driveways, etc., are up to you.
I've had my share of slip-and-fall BGRIN
Friday it was 5C (41F). Today it's a pleasant :ice: -14C (7F) FACE
