It seems we are finding a lot of snakes in our garden lately and I posted some time back about the one I caught and released into the bush not so long ago. We have our gardener here today and when I got back from the shop now he told me he killed a big snake that he found under a bush.

Pity as I would have rather caught it and let it lose again like I did the last one. The thing is I could not reprimand him as in their culture it is the right thing to do to kill them. :(

I know how you feel Dave ....but he did the right thing there is no chance of it coming back now and hurting anybody , dont get me wrong i like snakes and have kept them in the past ! but lets face it theres plenty of them around .

I have an understanding with the snakes around here. . . They stay out of my yard and I'll leave them alone. They can have the run of my vacant lot as long as it remains in its current condition, overgrown but once I clear it and put my shop and bike garage on it, they have to move to the lot behind it or to the house next door.

So far most of the snakes have lived by this agreement but the few that haven't were dealt with extreme prejudice.

I don't have a fear of snakes per se, but I like to see them first rather than have them surprise me.
All we have around here are the common garden variety that are not the least bit dangerous and will quickly run (slither?) away if you get too near.
