I posted this I video I made of me riding the Trophy 1200 through some twisties in my area a couple years ago, but decided to re-post it on the new forum here.....complete with some new and more fitting music.

You'll notice two cuts in the video where I did get behind slower moving vehicles.

Same here. The roads are never entirely empty of traffic, but here, in a lot of cases, the drivers will make it easy for you to pass. Out in the rural areas the cagers are quite courteous and we wave them a vigorous and sincere thank you as we/I pass.
Cagers are less so in the urban areas:y2: but we're treated pretty fairly overall.
I've had very close encounters with deer in those forested areas. With the trees so close to the road you don't get much warning when they jump out:y13:

Ah yes....we too have deer to watch out for (and the occasional dog). I think more deer are killed by cages than by hunters on a yearly basis in Pennsylvania.

Normally, I take the nice backroads during the day and will take highways after dark so that I have more warning of animals that may wander into my path.

As far as cages go....there really aren't too many safe and legal places to pass them even if they were inclined to allow you to. You'll notice nothing but a double yellow line along the route in my video.

We also have to share the roads with Amish buggies and Amish hay wagons that could be just around the next turn or over a blind hill. You really don't want to run into one of those!

yep deer a deadly animal on a bike ! we have loads you just have to watch for the sign post's warning you !

I'm pretty sure that deer can read......

They always seem to ignore the deer crossing signs and J-Walk right in your path!

Back when I first got married, I had a deer leap completely over my Honda Accord!!! It was amazing!

I can imagine coming across an Amish buggies on a blind rise could be a bit of a challenge

Yeah...it can be heart-stopping!

It's probably just as scary for the Amish too.

There are a number of collisions every year in Pennsylvania between cars and buggies....and the buggies normally lose that contest. It's really sad to see buggies turned into splinters, injured Amish people, and dead horses.

Although they don't use electricity, the State of Pennsylvania requires them to mount battery-operated flashing lights and a slow moving vehicle reflective sign on them.

Ok I got to ask then, how do they keep the batteries charged :y10:

They are just small blinking lights that have replaceable flashlight (torch) batteries inside. They are required to have a red on in the rear and a yellow on on the front.

Here's a video of a crashed buggy:

This happened about 15 miles from my house:

Here's a typical buggy on the road:

A news story about an Amish kid that tried to outrun the police with his buggy:

The thing about Amish people is that they accept things like being killed as God's Will.

Here's a funny video of an Amish guy "drifting" his wagon:

And one of a Amish buggy taking a turn too fast:
