Hello,
I recently got back into bikes, after a 25 yr break. I just purchased a 2010 America, full factory issue no aftermarket parts added. A question I have is re the side stand and the running boards. As I am a shorter stature, I have difficulty reaching the side stand under the running board to put the stand up to drive away. Any suggestions to make this easy, as currently it is very awkward accomplishing this task? I could replace the running boards with riding pegs, but the boards are a nice touch, particularly for longer rides.
( I have ordered longer legs for myself, but they have been on back order for 65 yrs now, and I'm not expecting them to arrive anytime soon.)
Look forward to any reasonable ideas.

Might I suggest a short length of red (or other attention-getting color) PVC or other stiff tubing pressed on over the the side-stand "hook". This would serve to make the hook a little longer, and easier to notice, so that might make it easier to put up/down while seated on the bike.

Same as below added a bit of rubber tubing on my 2016 America. Side stand even worse on my other bike Thunderbird storm.

I am five foot four and I am having no trouble. Maybe give it time and you will get used to it. ( my long legs are on backorder too )
