Shifting Problems

I bought my new 2017 Street Twin last April and it has been a great bike. I loved the way the shifter worked effortlessly and clicked firmly into each gear. All of a sudden over the past 2 weeks I'm having trouble down shifting. No trouble shifting up. This past Saturday it got stuck in 5th gear on a long ride home. It won't go down. What's going on? Is this common with new Street Twins?

2 street twin family - both around 16000km - no gear shifting issues so far
