Went with Tom (son-in-law) for a ride about through Grapevine, Flower Mound, Southlake, North Richland Hills, and Keller. Actually got the Speedy up to 6th gear a couple times. Been working on going up higher in the gear box to see if it improves my fuel economy since I know it sucks gas like an infant on the teat in lower gears at highway speeds. I found the motor and tranny are very happy giving me 55mph in first gear and the torque is impressive there if I want to blast up to 80, but the fuel economy is not so much (I swear I could see the bars disappearing on the guage). So today I made an effort to use 4th and 5th at lower speeds to see if I could go more than 50 miles on a single tank and viola! I got home with half a tank! Who knew just puttering about could be so fun. As I get more accustomed to the Speedy the more I like it, I'm still working on being comfortable for hours, but I no longer have to take Aleve just to get on it, so progress. I also adjusted my brake lever throw this morning because Thursday on the way back from Twisted Technology I felt it was a little close to the bar. It was much better braking today with it further from the bar. In this pic it was set to 3, it's now set to 5 (6 positions are available). The front dial sets the piston throw, (19 to 21mm). We're going out tomorrow again at the same time as today, but tomorrow I'll take my T-120 (it's in the rotation). When I get back from that ride I'll pull the Thruxton out and put the T-120 where the Thruxton was so I can get the Thrux out for a spin this week.
