Los Angeles animal control officials are praising the loyalty of a black Labrador retriever after heart-wrenching footage emerged Saturday showing it refusing to leave the side of another dog killed by a car.
According to KABC-TV, a driver in La Puente, Calif. saw the two dogs in the street and put down traffic cones to alert other motorists. Video the driver shot shows a yellow dog lying motionless on the ground with the black lab sitting close by as cars whiz past.
“When I saw the video clip taken by a passerby’s cellphone, I became emotional,†said Marcia Mayeda, director of the L.A. County animal shelter in Baldwin Park, according to LAist.
Shelter staff have named the 2-year-old lab “Grace†and said even though she looks well-cared for, no one has come to claim her so she’s now up for adoption.
How very sad.....don't watch this video if you don't want to start crying!
